How to Accelerate Good Ideas

Are You an Accelerator or a Drainer?

Winston Churchill

“The positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible.”

What about you, are you seeing the invisible, feeling the intangible and achieving what others claim to be impossible? As the uncertainty continues, this world is calling for GOOD ideas. And good ideas come from big thinkers and idea accelerators.

As we’ve noted, the boundaries between work and home, social and virtual, recreation and isolation are blurred and blended. The world at large has shifted and will continue to do so.

Now is NOT the time to drain the creative spirits around you by “yeah, butting” ideas to death. NOW is the time for “what if-ing” new ideas, innovations and discoveries to life to create safe yet EPIC new work and life experiences.

Are you responding to new ideas with:

  • We’ve already tried that.
  • Yes, but…
  • “They” will never buy into it.
  • It’s not possible.
  • It’s too expensive.
  • It’s not realistic.
  • It’s not feasible.
  • It’s too time-consuming.

These responses to new ideas quickly end conversations before they can bear fruit. Bite your lip, zip it, pause and remember new ideas are the lifeblood of your business.

What can you do?

In order to accelerate new ideas, you should listen and give space to new ways of moving forward. Here’s what that sounds like:

  • Interesting, tell me more…
  • Help me understand the positive impact.
  • Can you cost it out?
  • What is your timeframe?
  • Who else should you share this with?
  • What kind of support would you need to take this idea further?
  • What stakeholders will be impacted?
